Ms. Bolor-Erdene, Chairwoman of CITA, and Mr. Zolzaya, Director of Broadcasting and Digital Content Policy Planning Department of CITA met representatives of Mongolian Broadcasting Union (MTU) consisting of 16 television broadcasters, namely, Ms. Ganzul, CEO of MTU, Mr. Bat-Erdene, CEO of Mongol HD television and Mr. Mendbayar, Director of EduTV on August 18th, 2020.

During the meeting, Chairwoman of CITA Ms. Bolor-Erdene stressed that “CITA will introduce a new approach to make its activities less bureaucratic, more transparent and open in next 4 years. In this sense, we are willing to work in close partnership with MTU to address pressing challenges. We are looking forward to fruitful cooperation between the two organizations to make end products of the sector affordable and accessible to the people by putting aside individual interests”. She also promised to ensure MTU’s active participation in discussions of procedures related to the implementation of the Broadcasting Law.

On the other hand, MTU talked about the challenges they have faced since the adoption of the Broadcasting Law. Ms. Ganzul, CEO of MTU said that “TV viewers’ trust in information provided by television channels has increased from 48 to 69 percent. With this in mind, MTU is actively working on the development of professional media, educating the public and providing them with reliable and accurate information. MTU is also conducting a large-scale survey regarding this sector and planning to introduce its findings in December 2020”. She also noted that 16 TV broadcasters have effectively solved specific problems with IPTV within the framework of the Broadcasting Law. At the same time, MTU requested CITA to ensure their participation in further discussions of procedures that will be approved in relation to the implementation of the Broadcasting Law.

As a result of the meeting, CITA and MTU have agreed to cooperate on increasing public awareness of the E-Mongolia Integrated Digital System.

Ms. Bolor-Erdene, Chairwoman of CITA, stressed that “E-Mongolia Integrated Digital System offers 181 public services most needed by citizens. This system allows citizens to obtain public services in an easy and accessible manner. At the same, we have renewed services of 11-11 center, so people can give their feedback on services offered by E-Mongolia Integrated Digital System. With the system, now any government agency is able to identify any citizen, while citizens can have control over how their personal information is handled by the specific government organization.
