The employees of CITA joined the “Billion Tree” national campaign which was initiated by the President of Mongolia, U.Khurelsukh in order to reduce the impact of global climate change, protect and increase forest and water resources, and ensure ecological balance. We have planted more than 80 trees around the Bumbat spring in the 24th khoroo of Songinokhairkhan district, Ulaanbaatar.
The staff of the Forest Research and Development Center provided us the guidance on how to plant and care for trees, and to challenge the ICT Sector for the planting of 4.4 million trees. This national tree-planting campaign is important in mitigating the effects of climate change and ensuring ecological balance.
As of today, 76.9 percent of Mongolia’s territory has been severely affected by climate change or desertification, and if the “Billion Tree” campaign is implemented successfully over a 10-year period, the severely affected 129 million hectares could be reduced by 4 percent.
Therefore, we support the national campaign and challenge every citizen to take part in green development.
